Browse Programs Admission InformationThe training objectives are to prepare a professional with the skills and abilities to fully participate in urban and territorial development operations.
It also aims to develop a catalyst capable of integrating a culture of sustainable development into the practice and management of urban services.
At the end of this training, learners will be able to participate in the development of territorial assessments related to urban management and fully participate in project development within multidisciplinary teams.
It was decided during the meeting of experts from the Urban Management and Techniques program to give students the opportunity to choose between two themes in the CITY MANAGEMENT specialty:
• City Management
• Governance and Local Development
CITY MANAGEMENT
The goal is to prepare students to practice and develop processes and feasibility studies in a specific environmental, and especially economic and financial, context. This contextualization is in itself a "professional" framework in which students can put themselves into practice and apply their knowledge and skills to real-life situations.
City management is establishing a new management approach, spanning several fields to acquire productive skills. The professional is more of an actor promoting wealth creation from local resources than a manager.
GOVERNANCE AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
Governance is closely linked to local development. It is used to support partnership approaches within visions that seek to involve social resources, local intelligence, and "particularities" in development.
The aim is therefore to prepare learners to be catalysts in the system of urban or territorial actors. The mobilization of knowledge and skills in resource identification and exploitation requires in-depth scientific preparation.
Acquiring the knowledge necessary for planning, programming, and strategy development skills is fundamental at this level.
These two themes will only apply to the Semester 3 (M2) Core Teaching Unit.
This unit will consist of three subjects:
1- Workshop: whose topics will focus on the strategic management of cities, while keeping in mind the tools and methods for performance-based management. Governance and forms of citizen participation will also be explored to support reflections on partnership management methods.
2- Thematic Support Subject 1 will focus on basic concepts and knowledge to strengthen learners' knowledge base. The aim is to equip students with the necessary predispositions to conduct dissertation work on this topic.
3- Thematic Support Subject 2 will focus on the methods and tools required for urban analysis, diagnostics, and evaluations. The courses in this subject will primarily focus on methods of support in the development of exploration and investigation tasks.
