Program Overview

The Literature and Civilisation speciality offers an in-depth exploration of literary texts, cultural movements, and historical developments in English-speaking societies. This specialization aims to develop students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, and cultural awareness through the study of major literary works, genres, and authors, as well as key events and ideas that have shaped English and American civilisation. It prepares graduates for academic research, teaching, and careers that require strong interpretive and cross-cultural communication skills.

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

The subjects that make up the curriculum provide advanced training in the field of Literature, civilisation and cultural studies, and are all compulsory. Semesters 01, 02 and 03 target training modules. Semester 04 is dedicated entirely to thesis research and writing, allowing students to conduct in-depth study on a chosen topic within their specialization.

Admissions Information

According to the regulations of our ministry of higher education and scientific research, students who wish to study at our Algerian University institutions must have the necessary qualification, attested by support documents which are:

  •       Baccalaureate diploma or equivalent, for the admission to BA programmes;
  •   University diploma or equivalent, for the admission to Master Programmes;
  • Master diploma or equivalent, for the admission to Ph.D. programmes
