The University Center of Barika holds a significant position in Algeria's higher education landscape. Its inception dates back to the academic year 2011/2012 when it was established as an annex to the University of Haj Lakhdar Batna 1. Initially serving more than 400 students, it became the first university institution in the Barika region.
In recognition of its growth and contribution to education, the annex was later elevated to the status of a university centre. This transformation was formalised through an executive order Subsequently, on January 31st, 2017, the university was designated the name of martyr Ahmad Ben Abd al-Razzaq Hamouda, commonly known as Si al-Haoués.
The University Center of Barika operates as a public institution characterised by its moral and financial independence. Its core mission is to provide high-quality scientific and qualitative training across various fields of study.
To accommodate its student population, the university centre boasts an estimated capacity of 5,000 pedagogical seats. Additionally, it offers two university residences, each capable of housing 2,000 students.

Arabic language, if they have chosen to study Arabic Language and Literature.
French language, if they have chosen to study French Language and Literature.
