Program Overview

Title of the Program :   Food Sciences

Specialization: Physiology of Nutrition and Health Nutrition

1. Objectives of the Doctoral Program

The doctoral program in Food Sciences aims to :

Ø Develop research skills :

Train researchers capable of conducting innovative studies in the field of physiology of nutrition using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.

Ø Evaluate nutritional impacts :

Measure and analyze the effects of nutrients and dietary patterns on physical and mental health, considering the relationships between nutrition, metabolism, and diseases.

Ø Contribute to public health:

Formulate evidence-based recommendations aimed at reducing the incidence of nutrition-related diseases in the population.

2. Research Questions

The doctoral research is centered around the following questions :

Ø Impact of dietary habits :

How do changes in modern dietary patterns influence the emergence of chronic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes?

Ø Mechanisms of nutrient action :

What physiological mechanisms are involved in how nutrients affect metabolism, immune response, and overall health?

Ø Nutritional adaptation :

How can nutritional recommendations be tailored to different demographic groups based on factors such as age, sex, and pre-existing health conditions?

3. Research Projects Related to the Doctoral Program

Proposed research projects include:

Ø Clinical studies on dietary patterns:

Conducting randomized clinical trials to assess the effects of specific diets (e.g., Mediterranean, vegan) on health markers such as blood glucose and lipid levels.

Ø Analysis of micronutrients and health:

Investigating the role of vitamins and minerals in chronic disease prevention using in vitro and in vivo models.

Ø Development of functional food products:

Researching and developing new food products enriched with beneficial nutrients in collaboration with the food industry.

Ø Epidemiological studies:

Analyzing public health data to identify dietary trends and their correlations with population health.

4. Number of Places Available for International Students

06 places will be offered to international students, enhancing the program's internationalization and cultural exchange.

5. Additional Useful Information

Ø Academic supervision :

Each doctoral student will be supervised by a research committee consisting of professors and researchers experienced in the field of food sciences.

Ø Research infrastructure :

Access to state-of-the-art laboratories equipped for biochemical analysis, food microbiology, and clinical studies.

Ø Collaboration networks :

Opportunities for partnerships with universities and research centers at the international level, facilitating knowledge exchange and access to additional resources.

Ø Scientific publications :

Encouragement to write articles for peer-reviewed journals and to participate in international conferences to share research findings.
