Program Overview

There is growing interest in the study of international economics as a specialization concerned with analyzing all economic transactions between countries around the world, trade relations among nations, exchange rate developments, and economic competitiveness. It aims to clarify the patterns and consequences of interactions and transactions between populations of different countries, including trade, investment, and the movement of production factors.

This interest is driven by the increasing interconnectedness of the global economy with the phenomenon of economic globalization, the rise of regionalism, developments in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and digital transformation. On the other hand, new forms of protectionism have emerged, such as trade wars, technological conflicts, and disruptions in global supply and value chains—especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, it has become essential to study and understand all the variables and institutions that define the nature of international economic relations and to develop policies and strategies capable of addressing these challenges at both the macro and micro levels.
