This training falls within the context of connecting the university to its economic and social environment by studying the problems and challenges facing various institutions, both industrial, economic, and service-oriented, as well as the phenomena resulting from some of the dysfunctions that plague the social system as a whole.
Alongside this, comprehensive social and economic development requires building a knowledge society based on solid, objective foundations that rely on a knowledge economy and precise scientific research in all vital societal areas. This also includes mastering the steps of academic scientific research and linking them to procedural research related to real-life problems and social phenomena that require exploration and research into the sociological backgrounds and determinants that govern them. The objectives of this high-level training in this department also fall within the framework of providing various sectors with highly qualified and skilled human cadres, enabling the institutions that attract them to take the lead in scientific research in the future, thus achieving developmental and growth tributaries for these institutions, whether economic, industrial, or service-oriented, such as higher education and scientific research institutions, such as universities and research centers.
Specialization-related enrichment courses related to doctoral training:
- Training in Sociological Research Methodology (interdisciplinary): 26 hours / semester 1 - 26 hours in semester 2
- Forum on Data Analysis Techniques and Software in Sociology (interdisciplinary): 26 hours / semester 1 - 26 hours in semester 2
- Specialization Forum in Sociology of Communication: 26 hours in semester 1 / 26 hours in semester 2
The training includes the organization of several workshops in the specialty, both in person and remotely:
- National Doctoral Days (with partner institutions within the framework of the doctoral school), three days at the end of the first year.
- A one-day workshop on the mechanisms, conditions, and specifications for publishing in scientific journals at the end of the first year.
According to Ministerial Resolution No. 911 of August 11, 2022, which includes the procedures for enrolling in third-cycle training, its organization, and the requirements for preparing and defending a doctoral thesis, the requirements for doctoral training are as follows:
1. A baccalaureate degree + a BA + a master's degree in all sociology specializations.
2. Successful completion of the doctoral examination in the sociology department.
Or, for students holding a master's degree in sociology, direct registration is required. A file must be submitted and reviewed by the doctoral training committee.
