Program Overview
The doctorate program in Applied linguistics and new technologies is designed to take a multidisciplinary approach to promote independent learning and meet the needs of 21st-century learners using new technologies. It aims to transform the traditional teaching and learning system by addressing key questions such as how, where, when, what, and why we learn and the resources available to us. The program also aims to prepare doctoral students to become proficient scholars, leaders, and educators who can effectively navigate the intersection of English language learning, culture, humanities, and digitalization in an increasingly global, media-rich world. Based on future-oriented development ideas and strategies, the program focuses on research in digital humanities, including AI in education and research, digital literary studies, and some Workshops/seminars/ conferences for reinforcement in ESP, applied linguistics and online learning, etc., to help learners understand face-to- face encounters and virtual exchange in the digital era. It explores the intersection of media, communication, and language from social sciences and humanities perspectives and how digitalization processes can be implemented sustainably and responsibly worldwide, especially in Algeria.
The "Applied Linguistics and New Technologies" specialization includes so-called specialist subjects such as 'Applied Linguistics,' 'Digital Humanities,' and 'AI in Education.' These subjects will be taught by local experts in the field and may be taught by other external experts.
The doctoral program has already predefined research topics in the current specialty. These have been validated by the Ministry of Higher Education given their correspondence to the training objectives established from the design of the research project. The topics selected by the candidates are as follows:

3- Digital Era and Education: Challenges and Prospects
4- Exploring digital technologies' impact on identity Formation, social Interactions and cultural expressions through virtual Platforms
5- The Role of Digital Technology in Cross-Cultural Communication: Digital Storytelling as a Tool for Promoting Cultural Heritage and Intercultural Understanding
6- Artificial Intelligence in Digital Language Pedagogy: Evaluating the Efficacy of AI
7- Digital Culture and Humanities in the 21st Century: Challenges and Perspectives
8- Digital literacy: cognitive abilities in using information and communication/technologies global perspectives
9- The Strategic Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Era
