Program Overview

The duration of studies is six years, divided into two cycles : A preclinical cycle of two years (1st and 2nd year); A clinical cycle of three years (3rd, 4th, and 5th year).


1st year : General Anatomy, General Physiology, Histology/Embryology, Genetic, Biochemistry, Physical, Biophysics, Biomathematics/Statistics, Chemistry, Social health and human sciences, English, French.

2nd year : Conservative dentistry/endodontics, Prosthesis, Human Anatomy, Dental Anatomy, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Periodontology, Biomaterials, Histology, Microbiology, English, Hygiene and Prevention, Immunology, Computer Science, Physiology.

 3rd year : Conservative Dentistry/Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Pathology, Prosthetics, Medical Imaging, Pharmacology, Anatomy Pathology, Oxyology, Occlusodontics, Anesthesiology.

4th year : Conservative Dentistry/Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Pathology, Prosthetics, Implantology, Pediatric Dentistry, Medical Pathology and Dentistry,  Geriatric Dentistry, Ethics and Medical law.

5th year : Conservative Dentology/Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Pathology And Surgery, Prosthetics, Pediatric Dentology, Implantology, Epidemiology, Ergonomics.

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

During the preclinical cycle, students will complete several fundamental and cross-curricular modules. They benefit from one weekly practical session per module.

 

Students in the clinical cycle benefit from several dental clinic rotations.

The Faculty of Dentistry offers rotations in the five dental clinic departments:

• Oral Pathology and Surgery Department,

• Periodontology Department,

• Conservative Odontology Department,

• Prosthetics Department,

• Dentofacial Orthopedics Department.

Advanced Topics

In the sixth year, the student intern will complete their internship.

 

They will also be required to publicly defend a final dissertation on a topic approved by their thesis supervisor.

 

After completing six years of study, the student obtains the title of Doctor of Dental Medicine.

 

There are many career opportunities, including specialization through the residency entrance exam, recruitment in the public or parapublic sector, or even independent practice.

Admissions Information

Admission requirements to the Faculty of Medicine are set by a ministerial decree, updated annually, and are based on the average grade obtained in the baccalaureate.

 

Once enrolled in dentistry, students must achieve an overall average of 10/20 to complete their year.

 

The failing grade is 5/20. If a student receives a failing grade, they will be required to take a resit exam.

 

Students must complete all practical work.
