Program Overview

The doctoral training project we are proposing focuses on rare diseases that primarily affect the brain or nerves. These are serious neurological disorders that can lead to severe disabilities or even death. Currently, there are no treatments available for most of these conditions. These pathologies typically develop after birth, often during adolescence or adulthood.

Our PhD program in Genetics, with a specific focus on Neurogenetics, aims to provide advanced training to young university graduates to prepare them for a career in fundamental research in the field of molecular genetics.

Our objectives are:

  • To identify and characterize the genes involved in these disorders;
  • To identify genes associated with rare genetic diseases transmitted in an autosomal recessive manner, particularly in consanguineous families;
  • To gain a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiological processes.
  • In terms of education: to actively participate in the training of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Master’s and PhD).
