As regards to instruction, a thought out programme has been designed to improve the quality of doctoral students’ knowledge with qualified lecturers. Current issues are invested thoroughly in areas inherent to didactics of English as a foreign language and English for specific purpose. Students background knowledge will be sustained and empowered through a set of seminars scheduled for this purpose, and eventually develop a sense of critical thinking while seizing opportunities in debates and discussion. In terms of research, the proposed research topics as well as the doctoral project in general endeavour to integrate the students in academic research. Didactics of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) stem from the ideal of language learning as they investigate shared issues whether theories or principles in foreign language domain. Areas such as language learning, textbook evaluation, assessment, curriculum development, syllabus design, material and teachers’ development, teaching methods and approaches represent the core subject of both areas. This doctoral project is incentive as it enables the students to focus on academic paradigms and research requirements when dealing with current issues or coping with institutional expectations and future vision of English as a Foreign Language development. At macro level, the project is set to improve the quality of teachers/researchers who will, eventually, take in charge the development of English in Algeria.
