Program Overview

The doctorate program entitled “Specialty languages for the Socio-economic Sector and  Research   Fields” aims to establish English as a specialized language, with emphasis on the phenomena of specialization of the English language in key professional areas such as economics and the acquisition of competencies. Specialized English is a branch of applied linguistics that studies the forms of English used in specific domains, focusing on their nature, stylistic features and technical lexicons.

This same program will also focus on the critical study of media discourse, whether written, broadcast or online, due to its importance. The ideological and geostrategic messages that circulate in media communication have the capacity to disrupt everyone’s deep ingrained beliefs. Given that stability and national security are priorities in Algeria, this doctorate program aims to train future doctors in critical discourse analysis, in order to detect underlying discourses and develop strategies to counter them.
