Optometry
Optometry is a vast and rapidly emerging field in our country and throughout the world. The development of materials and technology has enabled accelerated growth in this profession. From screening to treatment, several analysis and evaluation tools have been put on the market in the last 2 decades, and lens and contact lens technology has also undergone considerable development. This evolution undoubtedly requires educational support and ongoing training, to ensure that Algerian visual health professionals, ophthalmic opticians and optometrists are up to date with technological advances and that their practice is kept up to date.
The proposed training program responds to a real need and meets accessibility and universality criteria. The training program is designed to help practicing optometrists update their skills and build up a bank of clinicians and lecturers specializing in specific fields of optometry or related sciences such as contact lenses and binocular vision.
This is training by research and for research, with the aim of training specialists who can pursue careers as consultants, professors and researchers in the sciences and vision sciences, and stimulating the production of original research in the fields of optometry and refractive errors, optometric instrumentation, contact lens practice, characterization of myopia and its evolution, low vision and color vision, among others. These areas are very important from an applied point of view, because their results contribute directly to improving the population's visual quality and well-being. The overall objective remains to foster better integration of the university into its socio-economic environment, and to strengthen its role as a driving force and initiator of the development of nations through research and innovation, motivated by the desire to provide an international platform of excellence.

Objective
The research theme “The management of refractive errors from an impact, prevalence and intervention perspective” focuses on the ocular health of individuals. It will enable clinical and screening studies to be carried out on refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, and will identify the means of prevalence using artificial intelligence to create national databases.
The aim of this doctoral project is to identify all the means of controlling and remedying this public health problem, which is linked to refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, heterophoria, amblyopia, glaucoma, etc.
