The Preparatory Training Department at the National Higher School of Forestry offers a two-year training program for its students. Upon official admission to the school, students join this department as part of a preparatory stage within the field of Natural and Life Sciences.
Admission to the school and the preparatory training department represents the students' first step, based on a weighted baccalaureate average that considers both the general average and the grade in Natural Sciences.
During the first and second years, students receive a set of foundational knowledge related to Natural and Life Sciences, such as cell biology, animal and plant biology, genetics, biochemistry, immunology, and both plant and animal physiology. In addition, they study several technical subjects like mathematics, physics, and chemistry, along with support courses such as computer science and foreign languages.
The education provided in the Preparatory Training Department serves as first-cycle training. Advancing to the second cycle—whether within the National Higher School of Forestry or other higher schools in the same field—is not solely based on passing the second year. It also depends on ranking within the top 80% of the available positions at the school for the first year of the second cycle, or on securing a spot through a competitive entrance exam either at the school or other related higher institutions..
